Finishing Supplies for Traditional Woodworking
It is no secret that when it comes to woodworking, we are real hard-core traditionalists. Well, when it comes to finishing, we are actually worse. Surprisingly, it is not because we are purists so much as because we have found the traditional methods to achieve the most satisfactory results, both for reproduction pieces and for modern works. For more about this
For a natural finish, we tend to favor a shellac finish, although on some country pieces a wax based finish is appropriate. For a painted surface, there really is only one choice in traditional woodworking, and that is a milk paint finish. Nothing gives a piece that immediately endearing quality of antiques like the natural look of milk paint. The milk paints we sell here are made in New England in the old way by The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company.
