Frame & Panel 1 - Making & Joining the Frame Graham Blackburn tackles the basic frame in the first of a two-part series on frame-and-panel construction. Frame-and-Panel is a woodworking fundamental - allowing furniture to survive the natural seasonal expansion and shrinkage that affects all wood. In this video, Blackburn explains the functions of stiles, rails, and muntins and he shows how to combine them into a well-designed frame. Working with both classic hand tools and common woodworking machines, Blackburn joins his frame with mortises and haunched tenons. He shows you how to groove the frame members to hold the panel. And, at the end of the video he demonstrates draw-boring - the neat old way of making tights joins in a frame without glue.
