Furniture Books
When we review a book on furniture or woodworking, it is with a different emphasis than most. Our perspective is that of woodworkers building fine period furniture. In books on furniture, the more photos, from as many angles as possible, the better. Also, pictures of the inside, back, bottom, or any other not normally seen view are exciting to us. For a woodworking book to be interesting, it has to accurately describe how pieces were originally made, not how you can do it today with a biscuit joiner. Surprisingly, there are few woodworking books that meet this criteria.

John L. Scherer
This is a very broad overview of furniture that was made in New York and is now in the collection of the New York State Museum. This is not a book for construction details . This book, which is copyright 1984, is an old fashioned museum catalog. It has some pictures of labels, but no emphasis whatesoever is placed on construction details.
